Have you head the expression 'DAYLIGHT ROBBERY '?
Some might think about a bold and nasty behaviour of some not very well behaving people.
But it was a real robbery of light that happened in time of William the third, of Orange, William the Silent King. Though the Invasion was smooth and really beneficial, but some laws and regulations were not so welcomed. In 1696( was relaxed in 1851!!!)
King of England introduced a property tax which required those living in houses with more than six windows to pay a levy. In order to avoid the tax, house owners would brick up all windows except six. As the bricked-up windows prevented some rooms from receiving any sunlight, the tax was named a daylight robbery. And even now you can see houses that have windows on the main(mane of a horse/ lion etc) faced and some being painted rather glassed, some side windows were imitation to show off prosperity and wealth of a house landlord!
